THE KMX INSTRUCTORS

Gabriel Gliksman

Gabriel is the founder and head instructor at KMX. He is a Krav Maga expert and has been instructing for almost 20 years. Gabriel’s Krav Maga has evolved from the techniques developed by the Krav Maga pioneers Imi Lichtenfeld and Moshe Feldenkrais. Son of Jacques Gliksman, a Holocaust survivor, Gabriel was raised with a strong sense of perseverance. He believes that there is a way to deal with any situation, which is the essence of the Krav Maga mentality. A native of Israel, Gabriel served in the IDF (Israel Defense Force) where he learned defensive tactics, combatives, and Krav Maga. He has extensive judo training and has competed at the highest levels in Israel alongside Israeli Olympians. He also competed in elite youth basketball in Tel Aviv. Gabriel has been a Bay Area resident since the mid-1990s.

Mark Cornmesser

Mark has been practicing Krav Maga since 2009 and greatly appreciates the simplicity, effectiveness, and mentality of the system to ultimately increase the chances of survival. In addition to Krav, he has studied various martial arts and fighting styles, including Eskrima, Kenpo Karate, Muay Thai, Jiu Jutsu, and Boxing. Mark continues to study the art and science of combat through training and teaching at KMX.

Liel Gliksman

Liel has been a Krav Maga instructor and head of the youth program at KMX since 2021. He has been a Krav Maga practitioner since the age of 6. His teaching approach balances fun with practical self-defense skills and mindset. He is an attentive and engaging instructor who instills self-confidence in his students.

Jon Segall

Jon is a KMX-certified Instructor who has been practicing Krav Maga for over six years. Not only has Krav training been a big part of Jon's life, but it has actually come in handy in two situations where he has had to use it, and in one case, it actually saved his life. Training Krav Maga has meant a great deal to Jon in terms of both spirituality and fitness. Spiritually, it is important in terms of building confidence, teamwork, community, and awareness, while physically, it is important in terms of being a fantastic workout that builds strength and endurance.

Jon has lived in the Bay Area for almost forty years (with one year living in Israel). During that time, he was active in various sports (he played rugby both in college and on the club side) and volleyball, where he was awarded Contra Costa Times Coach of the Year for volleyball in 2005. During that season, he took his team to the California State Championship and was the founder of the Xceleration Volleyball Club. He brings this kind of teaching acumen to his Krav Maga classes in order to make them both fun and interesting, and of course, it gives a means to practical self–defense.

Rene Lauzon

Rene became a certified KMX instructor after a lifetime of martial arts training and competition in a variety of disciplines; Wrestling, Tae Kwon Do, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, and various weapon systems. He specifically appreciates the difference between the sporting aspects of mainstream traditional styles versus the practical day to day self-defense focus of Krav Maga. With a keen eye toward proper technique and "age appropriate" fitness training, Rene brings hard-won personal experience to physical training spanning decades. As the body ages and the mind expands, we make changes to our approach toward many things, personal protection and situational awareness is no different.

James Willits

James started training in Krav Maga in 2017. He started train in martial arts in the early 90s. He has trained in Karate, Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu, He is an avid Surfer, Kitesurfer and Snowboarder. He works in public transportation and deals with real world experience in combat as well as de-escalation. His motto is: If you can walk away from a fight, you have won.
